Introduction

     Hi my name is Lissete and I chose Gary Soto as my poet. Gary Soto has written multiple poems such as: A Red Palm, Saturday At The Canal, Mission Tire Factory, and Chiapa's. I chose Gary Soto as my poet because I feel like I can relate to his poems especial the poem Chiapas. I also chose this poet because of his background I can relate to his life being born and raised with different nationalities and cultures here in the United States.

      " Avocado Lake"        By: Gary Soto     Based off the title of the poem I predict the poem would be about a lake that is surrounded by Avocado plants and how the avocados always roll into the lake. In stanza one lines 1-2 talks about a body that is seen in the lake and lines 3-5 describes the type of body that is floating which is described as a child. In stanza two lines 6-8 talks about the dead body of the child has been there for a while and how even trying to revive him would not even make a difference because his lungs are full of water and lines 9-10 describes how the skin of the body was peeling and how the dead child's finger was curled up. Poetry Analysis "Oranges"

                                           "Oranges"         Based off  the title "Oranges" I predict the poem will be about the start of a new journey or family during a hot summer. Lines 1-7 talks about a twelve year old boy walking with a girl. It also describes the weather as being cold. Lines 8-20 talks about how the boy walks to a girls house and the light on her porch is always on no matter what time of the day it is nor the weather. While the boy is at the girls the girls dark continues to bark at him until the girl comes out.
